Unlimited Resources
by Marge Neufeld
It was during my time in high school that I invited Christ into my life. I did not immediately trust God in all situations, but as I learned to trust Him more I found it really made a difference in my life.
Our oldest son was born in 1964 with a cleft lip and palate. I found it very difficult to accept that fact. By nature I am prone to worry and anxiety. As a result, for some time, rather than accept adverse circumstances and trust God in them, I would worry increasingly. This condition continued for a few years until I was able to start thanking God in all things, including those that would normally be considered adverse experiences.
My husband and I attended a conference in Greenlake, Wisconsin in 1972. It was at this time that I more fully understood the ministry of the Holy Spirit. As I allowed God to control and empower me, circumstances have not defeated me nearly as often.
We moved to British Columbia in 1975. A week later my husband had to return to Manitoba for nearly a month. And if settling in and adjusting to a new place without my husband was not enough, our thirteen year old daughter was hospitalized with viral meningitis and shortly after, our eleven year old son was very sick and hospitalized as well.
The youngest children ages five years and nine months were sick at home.
I could again decide to worry excessively and become an object of help myself or else I could trust God completely, realizing that He does not make mistakes. As I made it a matter of prayer - casting my cares on Him - I had a deep inner peace through it all.
I now rejoice knowing that in His power I can live victoriously, allowing Him to control and empower me while drawing from His unlimited resources.
How about you? Have you been walking through deep waters recently ? Have you ever allowed God to minister to you? Have you experienced His love during those times? He longs to show compassion to you. Why not pray this simple prayer and by faith invite Him to fill you with His Spirit.
Dear Father, I need you. I acknowledge that I have sinned against you by directing my own life. I thank you that You have forgiven my sins through Christ's death on the cross for me. I now invite Christ to again take His place on the throne of my life. Fill me with the Holy Spirit as You commanded me to be filled, and as You promised in Your word that You would do if I asked in faith. I pray this in the name of Jesu. As an expression of my faith, I thank You for directing my life and for filling me with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
