My Hero, My Grandma

by Tabitha Job

A granddaughter's loveI don’t want to be exactly like her because some of the little things, like her name, I don’t want.  Her name is Kathy and it reminds me of coffee, I don’t like coffee.  My grandma is my mom’s mom.  She lives in a salmon colored house with my grampa.  They live on a farm with a dog named King.  My aunt lives in a little house on the side yard with two cats and two kids.  My grandma has horses on her farm and had a colt about a year ago that we named Bronson Jr. after my younger brother.  My grandma and grandpa work for a place called Campus Crusade for Christ.  My grandpa was the director of Campus Crusade for Christ, Canada.  My grandma works in the “Women Today” department.  She recently wrote and published a book entitled “When Dreams Come True.”

My grandma has a heart for God and that is one thing that I love about her.  My grandma is one of the wisest people I know apart from my grandpa.  My grandma is such a strong Christian and that is another reason she is my hero.  My grandma has saved many peoples lives and helped them become Christians.  She has saved peoples lives through her magazine.  She also gets letters through “Women Today Online” and her department responds to every one of them.

My grandma is the type of person that is just plain old fun to be around.  Sometimes I work for my grandma and help her clean house.  When I am there I talk to her a lot.  I tell her a lot of things and she always has some answer and scripture that can cheer me up.  When I go to her house for supper, grandpa or grandma always have something that relates to the occasion.  On my birthday, I went to their house for dinner and my grandpa gave me this verse, “Everything is possible for him who believes.”  He called it “a sense of mission.”

When I go to my grandma’s for supper she sometimes makes chicken noodle soup.  She used to make it from scratch and her noodles tasted so good.  She doesn’t make them anymore because it is too much work, but whatever she makes still tastes good.  Whenever I go to Grandma’s to work, we always go to Wendy’s for lunch.  A little while ago, my Grandma was having a big dinner and so my cousin Renee and I helped her get ready.  First we cleaned the whole house, and a boy named Jason cleaned the barn and yard.  Then we cleaned the patio and garage.  After that we helped set the table and get the food ready.  Then we went downstairs, got changed and made ourselves look fancy.  We really had a good time while we served dinner and then dessert.

I love my gramma and she is my hero.  I hope that in time I can be a stronger Christian like my grandma and set a good example for others as well.
