Advice

In our Bible study we're discussing the books of the Old Testament. It was mentioned that the Christian Bible has more books in the Old Testament than the original Torah. Can you please tell us which books were added to our Christian Bible in the OT?

The word torah, usually translated "law," refers to the pentateuch - the first five
books of the Bible, written by Moses. (Zondervan's Pictorial Encyclopedia of the Bible, Vol. 5, p. 779 & Unger's Bible Dictionary, p. 1109).

However, the Hebrew Canon included the Torah (Law), Nebiim (prophets), and the Kethubim (writings). (Unger's Bible Dictionary, p. 1109). Unger states that the 39 books which comprise the Protestant Canon are identical with the ancient Hebrew Canon (Unger's Bible Dictionary, p. 806).
